Investing in Students. Investing in Tacoma.

WHO ARE TACOMA SCHOLARS?

The goal of the Tacoma Scholars program is to not only provide an Annie Wright Schools education to Tacoma students who come from historically under-resourced communities, but also to provide support and mentorship throughout college and into the Scholar’s first post-college job. Access to AWS’ vast professional network, in addition to our world-class education, creates opportunities for economic advancement and begins to effect real, lasting change.

ARE YOU A TACOMA SCHOLAR?

Tacoma Scholars are students who are curious learners who are engaged in their community and are kind contributors in and out of the classroom.

Students eligible to apply for Tacoma Scholars must:

  • Be a current eighth grader
  • Live in Tacoma
  • Attend a Tacoma public school or Chief Leschi
  • Identify as a Student of Color
  • See financing an AWS education as a significant obstacle
  • Have an adult who will support and advocate for them in partnership with AWS
  • Meet the AWS admissions requirements
  • Participate in a family interview in addition to the regular admissions student interview
  • Complete a financial aid application.
