Mr. Sullivan Brings the Path to US Citizenship Alive
Today in Chapel, Mr Sullivan brought the path to citizenship experience alive with a quiz comprising 20 questions from the US Citizenship Civics Test (test your own knowledge with this link!).
Using the web-based quiz software "Kahoot," students and faculty responded to the questions using laptops, iPads and phones.
This Chapel is one of several this year that illuminate election issues. Mr. Sullivan, who is British, signed his US citizenship application in front of the whole school at Chapel in April. At today's Chapel he put US immigration into context, describing trends from the 19th century to today, as well as his own personal experience of applying for citizenship, including getting fingerprinted and preparing for his upcoming interview later this month. He reminded students of the challenges facing immigrants, especially those whose first language is not English.
As for the Kahoot, which is scored on both accuracy and speed, you may be unsurprised and perhaps relieved to hear that the winner was Upper School history teacher Mr. Freshwater.
