Ninety-one qualifying teams gathered at Eastmont Junior High in East Wenatchee on Saturday, April 2 for the Washington State D.I. Team Creative Problem Solving Tournament. Three AWS teams qualified at the Rainier Regional to participate in this tournament.
The Middle School “Get a Clue" team, AWeSome Armadillos (Team Manager: Carey Rockey), placed 2nd in the Middle Level Fine Arts Challenge and received the Renaissance Award for Engineering and Performance. The Elementary “Musical Mashup” team, Dark Dragons (Team Manager: Jean Young), placed 3rd in the Elementary Level Structural Challenge, as well as First Place in the Instant Challenge competition. The Elementary “Close Encounters" team, D.I.versity (Team Manager: Shelli Strate), placed 4th in the Elementary Improv Challenge.

Independent Elementary Level team DIscoverers (Team Manager: Kristin Hall), placed 5th in the Scientific Challenge, “In Plain Sight.” Eliza Hall, Daciana Reyna, Tessa Pendras and Leoni Pendras are members of this team.
The award-winning AWeSome Armadillos: 2nd in state and winner of the Renaissance Award for outstanding skill in design, engineering, and performance. The team won second place in the Fine Arts challenge, “Get a Clue” where they performed a skit about a mystery in ancient Egypt.
