Thanks to the incredible generosity of the AWSPA, Annie Wright Schools is now equipped with its very own 3D Printer, a device that will print three-dimensional objects using a safe plastic filament. This MakerBot Replicator 2 will help students and faculty alike extend the authenticity and impact of their learning. Our business students class might continue their studies of production cycles by engaging in user-centered design for smartphone covers. Our science students might apply what they have learned about physics by testing wind turbines they develop and hone. Our young art students might see their drawings formed into three dimensional figurines.
3D Printers are at the core of emerging technologies that will alter future practices in medicine, fashion, and engineering, among other areas, and we are grateful for the AWSPA's vision. Among schools around the country, Annie Wright has become an early adopter of this technology, and it will be quite exciting to see how students and faculty embrace the opportunities that 3D design allows.
