Not all winter sports champions train at Olympic-training facilities in Canada, Minnesota or Lake Placid. Here at Annie Wright, Red Tie Class of '14 student Clare Jeong proves that elite athletes can also manage rigorous academic programs. On January 19 and February 1-3, Clare Jeong excelled in several speedskating competitions in Roseville, Minnesota. In January, Clare came in first in 1500m, 3000m, and mass start in the American Cup. In the Junior World Cup, she placed second in both 1500m and 3000m. In February's Junior World Championship, Clare came in first in the 1500m, and second in the 500m, 1000m and 3000m, earning the highest points overall for the competition. Clare Jeong is now the US champion under-18 long tract speedskater and will lead the US Junior world team to compete in Italy February 22-24. Congratulations Clare!
