On Saturday, April 28, 2012, two members of the Annie Wright School Upper School Orchestra traveled to Ellensburg to participate in the Washington Music Educators Association State Solo and Ensemble Competition having won the Commencement Bay regional division on March 17. For each instrument there were 22 contestants playing for a panel of three judges, all winners from different regions of the state.

AWS freshman Hyunyoung Kim '15 on cello and sophomore Paulina Davison '14 on French Horn both received Superior ratings (the top rating possible). Only half the players in their divisions achieved this level of scoring. On top of excellent ratings, Paulina placed third for the entire state!

Both students were accompanied on piano by AWS' own Jeff Orr who accompanied a total of 11 participants throughout the day and his masterful support aided both in achieving such success. Congratulations to all!
