Rex Bates has been named Director of International Advancement and will be responsible for all aspects of the international student experience at Annie Wright Schools. This includes managing the admissions process, supporting students during their time at Annie Wright, building meaningful relationships with parents and families, and assisting alumni with their professional aspirations.

Rex joined Annie Wright Schools in 2008, although his association with the school as a parent, trustee and Board Chair dates back further. Rex's first career was in independent education as a history teacher, dorm parent and coach at Shattuck St. Mary's School. He followed that with almost thirty years in multiple leadership positions at State Farm Insurance Company. Rex has been deeply committed to AWS international students over the years, traveling regularly to Asia to meet with students and parents. He established the partnership that formed between Annie Wright and Baishan School in Qingdao, China.

"I can say unequivocally that no one cares more about the welfare of our international students than Rex, and I could not be more excited to have him in this new role," shared Head of Schools Jake Guadnola. "Caring for our international families is a privilege and an honor, and there is no one I trust more to do this important work than Rex Bates."
