Starting in the 2018-2019 academic year, Annie Wright Schools will move from the Emerald City League to the Nisqually League for athletic competitions. A major impetus for the move is geographical: four of the five schools are closer to Annie Wright.
"We are completely thrilled about the move to the Nisqually League," said Director of Athletics Mike Finch. "Currently, our average commute for away games in the Emerald City League is 68 minutes to and 88 minutes back to campus. By the joining the Nisqually League, not only do we become a member of a league that better fits our geographical location, but also we reduce our average trips to 42 minutes to and 45 minutes back to campus."
Finch said he hopes the reduced travel times will allow students more time for family and homework while inspiring a healthy competitive tradition in a strong league. The Nisqually League includes Bellevue Christian, Cascade Christian, Charles Wright Academy, Seattle Christian and Vashon Island High School.
