More than 25 Annie Wright faculty, staff, parents and students participated in the You Go Girl! races to benefit the Greater Tacoma Community Foundation's Fund for Women and Girls last Saturday, September 13, in downtown Tacoma. Leading the charge and coming in first out of 440 finishers in the half marathon was our own Library Media Specialist Joe Romano.
Our community participated in every event, including, along with the half marathon, the 10K and kids races. Following closely behind "Mr. Joe," who had an impressive time of 1:30:15 in the half, Day School alumnus Greg Howell came in 10th with a time of 1:41:33 and parent Tom Keskey came in 29th with a time of 1:47:54.
In the 10K, Upper School history teacher Bridgette McGoldrick came in 7th with a time of 47:07, followed closely by parent Angela Bates who came in 14th with a time of 52:17. Parent Lena Friend and her daughter, Grade 6 student Cecilia Cobbs, came in seconds later with times of 52:25 and 52:26, coming in 17th and 18th overall. Cecilia was also first in the U14 division.
