Upper School Inaugurates Annie Talks Series with Pierce County Auditor Julie Anderson
Lisa Isenman
Julie Anderson, Pierce County Auditor, addressed around 50 Upper School students and faculty in the Great Hall in the inaugural Annie Talks speaker series event on Friday, November 8. Ms. Anderson, citing the staggering gender divide in politics, urged the girls to see themselves holding a political office and to encourage talented others to run. Her messages resonated with the students, many of whom buzzed after the session ended.
Annie Talks was started this fall by a group of eight girls who meet during lunch to organize speakers to address the Upper School on a variety of topics of interest. In late January, Annie Talks welcomes their next speaker, Jennine Devenuti, YWCA Education & Outreach Manager, who will speak on teen dating violence.
