Lisa Isenman
Our Upper School Masque Players traveled to the Regional Theatre Conference in Olympia on the weekend of February 8. The conference adjudicators (teachers/professionals outside of AWS) offered the following impressive accolades:
In her solo work, Green Tie Shirley Wang cultivated "Lovely emotion.... Great use of volume and pacing to infuse whole monologue with tension." Shirley's scene with Red Tie Taylor Farley was recognized for its "nice chemistry" and for offering a "very natural performance with no over-acting.... Meanwhile, Taylor's monologue work earned her top rankings for her "bold physical choices..." her "immersion in her character" and "greatcomic effect."
Blue Tie Natalia Ross developed "good cadence" in her monologue, and her scene with Red Tie Amanda Marston offered "great honesty" (among the highest of compliments for any actor). In her own monologue work, Amanda was praised for creating a "lovely last moment"and"nice use of pitch in voice."
Finally, Blue TiesNatalie Nygren andJessa Jeter achieved "excellent chemistry" in their scenework! Jessa was also praised for the "good vocals" and "comic timing" in her monologue, and Natalie's musical solo offered "heartfelt moments of connection."
