Six AWS students perform at Middle School Honors Festival

On January 26, six AWS Middle School students participated in the Commencement Bay Music Educators Association (COMBMEA) Middle School Honors Festival held at Stadium High School. For the event, a full band, chorus and orchestra were created through teacher recommendations from the Tacoma and Peninsula school districts to showcase the best that's going on in Middle School ensembles in our region. This year's representatives from Annie Wright were violinists Maria Peterson and Amber Moody, violists Camilla Rosenfeld and Josie Trueblood, cellist Julia Hanly and bassist Matt Sullivan. All students were sent the music to prepare four weeks before the festival. The students arrived at 8:30 am on Saturday, rehearsed for five hours, and performed at 3:30 pm for a packed house in the Stadium High School theater. All enjoyed the chance to play in a full sized orchestra and share the love of music with fellow equally interested middle school students.
