Annie Wright Schools proudly announces that 15 graduates from the Upper School’s class of 2012 have been awarded the prestigious International Baccalaureate Diploma. This impressive achievement marks the completion of a two-year program that involves academically challenging coursework with comprehensive final examinations.
Achievements include Annie Wright Diploma recipients earning an average of 33 out of 45 points, surpassing the national average of 29.83, with one girl earning a near-perfect score of 44. Annie Wright girls scored exceptionally high in mathematics, physics and Spanish. Three international girls earned bi-lingual diplomas, opting to the take the literature exam in their native tongue. This year’s Annie Wright IB Diploma recipients exceeded the 78.16 percent worldwide diploma completion average, with an 83 percent success rate.
The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme, recognized worldwide as the gold standard of education, aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. The program prepares students for success at university and life beyond.
The Diploma Programme was initiated at Annie Wright Upper School in the fall of 2009. This was the second graduating class to receive IB Diplomas. All junior- and senior-level courses at Annie Wright Upper School are IB courses and over 50 percent of Annie Wright girls opt to complete the requirements for the IB Diploma. Annie Wright Schools has committed to become an all-IB school and plans to implement the Primary Years Programme and Middle Years Programme within the next few years.
