How can IB... an Inquirer?

Welcome to our 2022-2023 community gathering series! Each month will focus one of the ten IB learner profile attributes. Speakers will volunteer to engage with our school community about what it means to live out that particular attribute.

Green Tie Sebastián B. ’23 reflected on his recent trip to rural Ecuador as a part of our ongoing community gathering series. He spoke about being pushed out of his comfort zone and fully immersing himself in the lifestyle and culture surrounding him. While in Ecuador, he was able to connect more deeply with his own Colombian heritage through a book he read about the country. He found many parallels between the stories therein and his own personal journey. Because he was already learning and challenging himself daily, he was able to engage more profoundly with the text and with that side of his identity - and gain a greater understanding of who he is in the process.

9.15.2022
Green Tie Izzie I. ’23 kicked us off with a talk based on the IB learner profile attribute: “Inquirers.”
Izzie reflected on her own biracial heritage, and the ups and downs she experienced on her personal journey of inquiry. She grappled with questions like, “How can I be true to my whole self while also honoring the different parts of my identity?” Ultimately, she shared that this process of inquiry strengthened her connection to her Hispanic roots more than ever before.
