Track & Golf League Champs are District-Bound

Last week Annie Wright Upper School golf and track teams earned league titles, launching both teams to district competitions.

The Upper School for Girls golf team won their second consecutive league championship, defeating 2nd place Charles Wright Tarriers by 36 strokes. Junior Abby Givens, after shooting an-even par 72 at Golf Mountain Golf Course, was named League Champion and MVP. She, along with teammates Nina Ye, Paisley Cristobal, Yoonji Kim and Kayla Mathurin, advance to districts this Wednesday. Sophomore Carter Nelson also advanced to boys' golf districts, becoming Annie Wright's new Upper School for Boys' first district athlete.

Four Upper School for Girls athletes qualified for districts in track. These include senior Anna Haddad, who was league champion in 800m, 1600m and 3200m, along with Alexandra Bessler (2nd in 200m and 4th in 100m), Anna Parrott (5th in 400m), and Lillian Prime (5th in 3200m). Pauline Ngom, An Nguyen and Maxine Pendras also participated in the league championship.
