Music Faculty Stuart Hake Named President-Elect of String Teachers Association

Annie Wright Orchestra and Strings Instructor Stuart Hake was recently named President-Elect of the Washington State Chapter of the American String Teachers Association (W-ASTA). He will serve in this position for a year before becoming President of the association for two years.

ASTA is a membership organization for string and orchestra teachers and players across the country and offers a range of professional development opportunities, support services, publications and networking opportunities.

Mr. Hake, who teaches students of all ages, joined Annie Wright Schools in 2000. After earning a BA in cello performance from the University of Arizona and an MA in cello performance from Rutgers, he started a strings program in a Tucson, Arizona, school district and in 1998 helped found the Peninsula Youth Orchestra, where he is still a conductor. He enjoys both introducing uninitiated students to the world of string music playing as well as interacting with fully developed artistic young musicians. Having played electric cello in a rock band in previous years, he makes sure that students experience music of the 21st century as well as the classics.
