Upper School Boys Place at First Fencing Tournament

Upper School Grade 9 boys did great in their first ever épée fencing tournament this weekend through the Metro Tacoma Fencing Club! Joey Im earned a bronze medal tying for 3rd place, Owen Satoris placed 5th, Phiip Greene took 6th and Thinh Dang came in 7th.

All four boys won at least one pool bout but faced tough direct elimination (DE) opponents. They all lost their first DE round with the exception of Joey who beat Owen 15-11 and went on to face the #1 seed in the second round DE and eventually lost 7-15 (not a bad score for his first fencing tournament ever!). Most importantly, there was lots of learning and fencing fun. Go Gators!
