Jeff Barber & Alicia Mathurin Promoted to Annie Wright's Senior Leadership Team

Annie Wright Schools announced the promotion of two existing positions to now serve on the schools’ senior leadership team. Jeff Barber, Director of Residential Life, and Alicia Mathurin, Director of Auxiliary Programs, will now serve in the newly appointed roles at Annie Wright. Both report to Christian G. Sullivan, Head of Schools.

Jeff Barber, Director of Residential Life, joined Annie Wright Schools in 2008. After earning a BS and MS in Ecology, Barber taught science at several other boarding schools around the country before settling down at Annie Wright. Along the way he discovered a passion for community life and character education, transitioning into residential education and administration. Jeff supervises seven dorm parents and is responsible for all aspects of the welfare of 120 boarding students, 24 hours a day.

Alicia Mathurin, Director of Auxiliary Programs, joined Annie Wright Schools first as a parent in 2012 and then as the Middle School Office Coordinator in 2015. After her service in the Marine Corps in 2005, Alicia began working with youth, providing resources and auxiliary programs to underserved students in Tacoma. A Tacoma native, Alicia has a passion for community and providing quality educational, recreational and social programs for youth. Alicia is responsible for providing extended day programming before and after school, during school breaks, and at Summer@Annie Wright. In her role, Alicia supervises a staff or more than 50 and is responsible for the year-round welfare of students and campers.

“With the growth of Annie Wright Schools and the establishment of a boys’ boarding program, I have decided to bring these two existing positions onto the senior leadership team,” shared Christian G. Sullivan, Head of Annie Wright Schools. “It is critical that the residential life and auxiliary programs are of the same quality as our regular core programs. The inherent responsibilities of these positions and their importance in meeting the needs of students warrant their inclusion on Annie Wright’s leadership team.”
