  • Landscape Technician and Groundskeeper

    Annie Wright is seeking a Landscape Technician and Groundskeeper to begin by November 4. This is a full-time staff position reporting directly to the Operations Coordinator.

    Position description
    The Landscape Technician and Groundskeeper is a core member of the Annie Wright staff and is responsible for maintaining and beautifying our 10-acre campus grounds and additional neighborhood properties to ensure a safe and attractive outdoor environment for students, faculty, staff, visitors, and tenants. The Landscape Technician and Groundskeeper will be working outdoors in all types of weather. 

    The Landscape Technician and Groundskeeper has experience in landscaping and groundskeeping with an eye for design, is hardworking and organized, and takes pride in their work. The Landscape Technician and Groundskeeper is a self-sufficient, detail-oriented team player that contributes to the overall success and efficiency of the Schools. As a member of a school community, the Landscape Technician and Groundskeeper is comfortable around children of all ages, working around school needs, and brings a positive attitude to their daily work. 

    As a key member of the operations team, the Landscape Technician and Groundskeeper works with our landscape contractor on Mondays and independently the remaining four days of the week.

    Position overview: duties & responsibilities
    The Landscape Technician and Groundskeeper:
    • Plants, prunes, and maintains trees, shrubs, and flowers.
    • Monitors beds and planting areas and weeds daily.
    • Maintains a pristine property including leaf blowing, power washing, sweeping and limb clean-up.
    • Applies mulch and prepares beds for planting as directed.
    • Applies fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides as directed.
    • Maintains cleanliness of outdoor areas, including removal of litter and debris.
    • Ensures pathways, driveways, and parking lots are clear and well-kept.
    • Safely operates and maintains landscaping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and other tools.
    • Reports any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs.
    • Assists in the design and implementation of new landscaping projects.
    • Collaborates with landscape contractor weekly.
    • Prepares landscapes for seasonal changes (e.g., winterization, spring planting).
    • Identifies opportunities for improved landscape operation, making recommendations to the Operations Coordinator of ways in which the school can be beautified.
    • Turf/lawn maintenance is not a responsibility of this role.
    • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Operations Coordinator.

    Qualifications
    The Landscape Technician and Groundskeeper will demonstrate key elements of the listed expertise and experiences.     • Shows strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
    • Has good physical stamina and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
    • Displays strong problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
    • Exhibits basic understanding of pest management and plant care.
    • Has effective communication, time management and organizational skills.

    Physical Requirements
    • Must be able to transport up to 80 pounds at times. 
    • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stretch, push, pull, climb ladders, kneel and/or sit on the ground for prolonged periods of time.

    • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions.
    • Must be able to ascend stairs in the building as needed.
    Salary & benefits
    This position offers a rate of $24.51 per hour. Benefits available to the hired candidate for the Landscape Technician and Groundskeeper position include the following, subject to the terms of the applicable benefit plan:

  • Preschool Assistant Teacher

    Annie Wright is seeking a Preschool Assistant Teacher to begin immediately. This is a full time, hourly position and reports to the Early Childhood Director. The hours for this position are currently 9:00 am - 5:30 pm.

    Position Description

    The Preschool Assistant Teacher is a passionate educator who finds joy in working with young students in their beginning journey into school. They are intuitive and see the social-emotional needs that arise throughout the school day when working with three- to five-year-olds. Their love of learning leads them to make connections with the students of their learning in the world around them. The Preschool Assistant Teacher understands the importance of their role as a support to both the lead teacher and the students and is comfortable stepping in as needed to assist in a variety of duties from Morning Meeting to snack and recess to rest time and station rotations. The Preschool Assistant Teacher builds strong relationships with students, supporting them to be their best as a learner and a friend. They see them for who they are, build upon their strengths, and with the classroom teacher, support them in their areas of growth. While there is always work to do in the Preschool classroom, the Preschool Assistant Teacher approaches each day with flexibility and positivity, allowing them to have fun above all else with the students and teachers.  

    Position Overview: Duties & Responsibilities

    The Preschool Assistant Teacher:
    • Assists in the five Preschool classrooms, supporting school policies and procedures in alignment with the mission and philosophy of Annie Wright Schools and with the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) framework; 
    • Assists in supporting the academic and social and emotional growth of the students;
    • Supports the lead teachers with classroom management;
    • Supervises and engages students in the Preschool Wrap-around program after school, during breaks, and summer;
    • Maintains a professional attitude in all manner of conduct with students, faculty, and parents, including a commitment to confidentiality.

    Qualifications

    The Preschool Assistant Teacher will demonstrate key elements of the listed expertise and experiences.   • Bus Driver

    Annie Wright is seeking a School Bus Driver with a valid CDL license to begin immediately. This is a part-time, hourly position.

    Position description 
    The School Bus Driver is often the first person a child sees on their way to school. The School Bus Driver, therefore, is essential to our school’s ecosystem, and the warm attitude and patient spirit with which the School Bus Driver welcomes each and every student is key to this partnership. The School Bus Driver is a kind and steady presence, conscious of the health and safety of the students in their charge, and diligent in communication, timing, and responsibility. 
     
    The School Bus Driver is comfortable and enjoys the sound of students laughing and playing on the bus and is able to manage these distractions while focusing on the road. The School Bus Driver must be available to shuttle the regular morning and afternoon routes as well as frequent assignments for transporting students to field trips and activities and must ensure that all students are safely and successfully delivered to and from school. 
     
    Annie Wright buses are 21’ to 27’ long and carry a maximum of 29 friendly and eager students. Currently the maximum number of stops per route is 3. 
     
    Position overview: duties & responsibilities 
    The School Bus Driver: 
    ● Drives safely along designated routes 
    ● Obeys traffic laws, safety procedures, and transit regulations 
    ● Picks up and drops off students at designated times and locations 
    ● Transports students to and from athletic activities in the afternoons 
    ● Assists all students with getting on and off the bus as required 
    ● Prevents or stops unruly behavior from students and ensures safety of all students 
    ● Communicates with families via WhatsApp and the school regarding delays or any issues along a route 
    ● Fills the gas tank of the bus, when needed 
    ● Always maintains a clean and mechanically-sound bus 
    ● Attends staff meetings and participates in professional development, as required 
     
    Qualifications

    Annie Wright is seeking Substitute Teachers in the Lower School (Preschool-Grade 5) and Middle School (Grades 6-8) for the 2023-2024 academic year. This is a part-time, hourly position.

    Position description
    The Substitute Teacher at Annie Wright fills in for absent teachers as needed and allows a smooth transition for students to continue with their school day and week. They are experienced in working with children, and ideally have classroom teaching experience to help guide them. They are flexible and comfortable with the unknowns that come with subbing in a class in which you are not the teacher, and are able to follow lesson plans left for them, as well as coming up with additional activities should the need arise. Substitute teachers at Annie Wright are skillful at engaging children, approach them with a positive attitude and find joy in spending the day in the classroom. They are not afraid to ask for help, and are comfortable giving feedback if the day or process did not go as planned.  

    Position Overview: duties & responsibilities
    Substitute Teachers:

    • provide instruction and fulfill duties during the short-term absence of faculty; aid students in their daily tasks, help ensure their understanding of subject matter and use materials provided by absent teachers to attain lesson goals;
    • manage classroom behavior in a positive way and reach out to other faculty members for support as needed and manage classroom procedures, including taking attendance and maintaining orderly classrooms and student work, in compliance with the school’s procedures, guidelines, and policies;
    • and maintain a professional attitude in all manner of conduct with students, faculty, and parents, including a commitment to confidentiality.

    Qualifications

    • holds a BA in education or a related field (teaching certification is a plus);
    • has experience working with and/or teaching youth;

    • demonstrates the ability to cultivate relationships with students in a short period of time;
    • exhibits confidence and capability in providing instruction;
    • is willing and able to work while standing for most of the day, with few breaks to sit (especially for Lower School Substitute Teachers);
    • is available on short notice and on a regular basis, and respond promptly to requests for substituting;
    • is available from 7:30 am-3:30 pm,

    Compensation
    Compensation includes an hourly wage of $22.00/hour. Lunch is provided.
