The new Chinese exchange program at Annie Wright pairs Chinese language learners with our own boarding students from China. Dometic students host Chinese students at their homes for a total of four weeks during the school year, and the Chinese students host their American sisters in China during the summer for four weeks as well.
This program gives Chinese language learners opportunities to immerse themselves in Chinese language and culture with exchange partners who are also their classmates. The program also helps participating Chinese students learn about American family culture. This year, the inaugural year of the program, we had six girls, all freshmen and sophomores, including Chinese students Demi Wang, Jessy Li and Sue Wang, and Chinese language learners Katherine Christensen, Kayla Mathurin and Emily Simons. The American students returned from China last week.
