The annual Fund-A-Need (FAN) is an opportunity for the Gator community to support a specific area at Annie Wright Schools that enhances programming and learning for our students and community at large. We are thrilled to announce that this year’s Fund-A-Need includes large and small improvements to the places where Gators gather. These improvements increase capacity, accessibility, comfort and usability for all. Together our investment creates a more welcoming and inclusive campus for all to enjoy.

The 2022 Fund-A-Need Projects

Now more than ever we understand the importance of being able to join together in celebrating the milestones, strengths and achievements of our community. As the Annie Wright student body continues to grow, and we start to gather in person again, so does the need to maximize our large community spaces on campus.

It is in these community spaces that the spirit of Annie Wright comes to life. Whether in the Kemper Gym when the crowd cheers as our team scores the winning basket, or the Great Hall where a student plays their first music recital, or the Bamford Commons where parents share tears of pride at a May Day event, these spaces provide us the opportunity to celebrate our community together. In doing so, we create memories for ourselves and our children that last a lifetime.

List of 4 items.

  • Bamford Commons

On the Bamford Commons you are likely to see students gathered for lunch, animating a dance move, playing hide & seek in Annie's Garden or enjoying a bit of sunshine between classes.

Throughout the year, the bustle of programs enliven the space: back-to-school picnics, orientation games and competitions in the fall, the Grade 2 egg drop, alumni celebrations, and year-end ceremonies in the spring. Regardless of the season, the beautiful Bamford Commons courtyard, surrounded by brick arches and nestled in the heart of campus, is the perfect destination to commemorate friendships and achievements and to celebrate being part of the AWS family.

The 2022 Fund-A-Need will improve the sound system and create shade with 7 all-weather umbrellas.

The Bamford Commons and Hofius Garden A/V installations will include:
    • Touch screen control panel near Library hallway door
    • Multi input source controller
    • Easy connect bluetooth
    • 2 handheld Wireless Microphones
    • 7 Speaker JBL Professional sound system in Commons
    • 2 Speaker JBL Professional sound system in Breezeway
    • 8 outdoor landscape loudspeakers in Gardens
  • Front Lawn

An open green space that welcomes all to Annie Wright, the front lawn is one of the most versatile spaces on campus. Used by students for casual conversations with friends, lunch, meetings and occasional classes. The open setting is the perfect space for hosting speakers, orientations and neighborhood gatherings. May Day traditions to honor Annie Wright seniors fill the space in the spring with streamers running from the dorm windows, performances from the school orchestra, Grade 5 weaving around the maypole and speeches recognizing the strengths and accomplishments of each student.
The 2022 Fund-A-Need will purchase a new sound system to improve the Audio/Video functionality on The Front Lawn.
The new Front Lawn Audio installation will include:
    • Touch screen control panel near front entry
    • Easy connect bluetooth (with permission)
    • Wireless Microphones (handheld and lapel)
    • 8 outdoor landscape loudspeakers
  • James Memorial Field

James Memorial Field hosts 75 soccer and lacrosse games, not including the hundreds of Nortac soccer games held each weekend in the fall and spring.

The 2022 Fund-A-Need will install additional bleachers that maximize the view of the field and Commencement Bay with greater capacity and easier accessibility.
  • Kemper Gym

Throughout the year over 350 students participate in AWS athletics and the Kemper gym hosts 105 volleyball and basketball games. At most events the bleachers are filled to capacity with friends and family spilling out onto the sidelines and standing in the doorways to cheer on our AWS teams.

The 2022 Fund-A-Need will replace the wood bleachers with new modern bleachers that increase capacity by 30 seats and are ADA compliant.
