  • Student Government

Members of Student Life & Governance (SL&G, also a (s)Elective) work closely with school administration as representatives of the Upper School for Girls student body, alongside the Upper School for Boys governance group. Serving on either the Community Board or Mission Board as elected officers and/or volunteer board members, these students examine and shape policies, facilitate meetings, and plan community events in ways that address the needs of their grade level constituents and the school at large.
  • Student Ambassadors

Student Ambassadors work closely with Annie Wright Advancement staff as students representing the Upper School for Girls for external audiences, including community members, prospective families, and incoming students. These students attend regional events, provide campus tours, and serve on panels to tell the Annie Wright story.
  • Boarding Prefects

Boarding Prefects are selected in their senior year to work closely with resident staff to build a vibrant and nurturing dorm community. Each Prefect is responsible for leading a specific dorm group, by way of facilitating weekly check-ins, planning community-building activities, designing “All-Dorm Fun” programming, and being an active listener, role model and advocate for all resident students.
  • Honor Council

Honor Council Members are nominated and elected by peers and faculty to uphold the School’s Honor Code. If an Upper School student makes a mistake, Honor Council members guide that student through a confidential hearing to reflect on choices, support accountability and learning, and design consequences to allow for community restoration.
  • Tutoring

Tutoring allows Upper Schoolers to support Lower and even Middle School students in academic areas such as math and language.
  • Chapel Planning Committee

Chapel Planning Committee members volunteer to work with the school’s Chaplain to design and deliver the Chapel program. This group identifies topics, structures the format, and have the opportunity to lead the weekly divisional program by carrying the flags, reading opening reflections, and/or introducing guest speakers.
  • Global Ambassadors

Global Ambassadors apply to be leaders in upholding and extending the IB Programme’s commitment to International Mindedness by partaking in one of our International Exchange programs and designing the USG’s annual GlocalFest seminar - a daylong program which examines global issues in local contexts.
  • College Ambassadors

College Ambassadors apply to be formal student hosts for college admissions representatives who visit the AWS campus throughout the fall season. These students are welcoming and confident in showcasing academic and student life at AWS, helping set the stage for college admissions guests to understand our program and recognize the diversely talented students within it.
