Student Leadership

The Upper School for Boys offers a variety of leadership opportunities and encourages students to take leadership positions in clubs and activities that inspire them. In addition, Upper School boys act as role models and mentors for younger students.
The Upper School for Boys community has been built through a true partnership of students and teachers. In the spring of 2019, the pioneers of the USB, the founding Class of '21, drafted the USB Constitution. This document frames out the Legislative Assembly of the Boys School (LABS) and the Judicial Assembly of the Boys’ School (JABS).

These two branches work with the Upper School for Boys administration to improve students' experience of school. Elected members of the Assembly of the Boys’ School (ABS) have designed co-curricular events such as USB Mountain Day, helped facilitate advisory games, provided feedback on the Student Handbook, produced a visit program for Annie Wright's 8th graders to learn more about the USB, and more.
“In the USB, when you assume a position of leadership, it's assuming responsibility, not assuming exclusivity or assuming authority."

- Nelson Athow, Class of 2021
In addition to student government positions, leadership opportunities include:

  • Activities and Clubs Leaders
  • Admissions Ambassadors
  • Residential Life Prefects
  • Athletics Team Captains
