School Life

Upper School for Boys School Life

Part of the magic of Annie Wright Schools is what happens outside of class time.
To start, every student is known and honored by both faculty and peers, who support and appreciate individual strengths, interests and passions. A rich program of activities, sports, travel and leadership opportunities, programmed to allow engagement in multiple areas, allows students to tailor a schedule that fills their bucket. At the same time, flexibility to engage in activities outside of school is an essential component of Annie Wright's individualized and student-centered approach.

Annie Wright also recognizes that unstructured and relaxing time is essential for students to recharge. In other words, we make time for play. Both spontaneous and scheduled social opportunities, from shooting hoops with a teacher to attending a range of evening events with girls, are also integral parts of school life. Some social offerings, many of which attract students from other local schools, include casino night, lip sync, dances, the Carnival of Board Games, and prom. Outings, get-togethers, barbeques, impromptu gatherings and a range of other fun events also take place during school time throughout the year. And donuts...in the USB, we eat a lot of donuts!

Finally, to achieve balance and address students' need to get more sleep and exercise, Annie Wright Upper Schools offer a start time of 9:15 am on most days. Learn more about Annie Wright's innovative late start initiative.
    • In addition to a range of opportunities beyond the classroom, the Upper School for Boys makes time for relaxation, fun and games (even with their administrators and teachers!).
