UPPER SCHOOL ATHLETICS

Annie Wright's Upper School athletics program stresses competitive team play, physical fitness and good sportsmanship. Our dedicated faculty and coaches identify and support each girl's individual aptitude and skills, whether she is an elite athlete or has never played a team sport.

Upper School athletes have represented Annie Wright at the state level in volleyball, tennis, cross-country, track and golf. The varsity volleyball team has been league champions for several years and consistently competes at a high level in states. More recently, the varsity tennis team has clinched the number 1 state singles title and has attracted a number of players at the national level. In addition to our own athletics program, students are given the time, space and flexibility to pursue outside athletic passions. In recent years we have also had national and world champions in a variety of sports including crew and speedskating.

Our no-cut policy at the JV level ensures opportunities for players of all skill levels. For those students who do not pursue a team sport, the Upper School physical education program offers a variety of activities. In addition to general PE, girls may choose specialized classes. These vary but have included zumba, lap swim, yoga, strength & conditioning and rock-climbing.
