Social events are an essential part of our program. In other words, we make time for play. All of these events attract students from a number of local high schools. Some of our offerings include casino night, lip sync, dances and prom. Outings, get-togethers, barbeques, impromptu gatherings and a range of other social events also take place during school time throughout the year.
Getting off campus to learn, grow, bond, meet new challenges and experience the wonders of the Pacific Northwest is an important element of Annie Wright Upper School's program. Our inaugural Grade 9 class will start their Annie Wright Upper School for Boys experience with an orientation trip to a high ropes course. Throughout the year, faculty and/or student groups will spearhead day trips to play in the great outdoors, including kayaking, hiking, biking, skiing and more.
Further afield, Annie Wright offers organized cultural exchange programs to Spain and France. These affordable programs provide students the opportunity to host a student in their home and then to live with that student's family, attend a different school, engage with peers from a different part of the world and immerse themselves in a new culture.
STUDENT LEADERSHIP ACTIVITIES
Based on interest levels, a variety of optional arts-related after-school activities, most of which are mixed gender, will be available to our Upper School boys. These include chorus, orchestra, theatre, theatre tech, woodworking and visual arts. Robotics and community service leadership will also be offered in a single gender setting.
One of the most exciting opportunities for the pioneers of the Upper School for Boys is to help evolve the program, design facilities and establish traditions of their new school. Their leadership will leave a lasting legacy. In addition, every boy will have a unique opportunity to hold an important role in the community. Examples include student government, honor council and mentorship for younger students.
