Upper School for Boys Student Wins Battle of the Bands in Olympia
Rising Grade 9 student Kian Russell and his band Blue Avenue won the 2017 Lakefair Olympia High School Battle of the Bands competition on July 12.
This annual event, sponsored by 94.5 Roxy radio station, challenges talented youth musicians to showcase their musical, creative and entertainment skills. Playing to a panel of nine judges and a large crowd, the pressure was on to perform to the highest level. With an entertaining, toe tapping set consisting of three covers and two original songs (one by Kian), Blue Avenue, the youngest band in the finals, took the top prize.
