Chorus Gets Gold and Junior Amethyst Kettrell Wins Coveted Maestro Award

The AWS Upper School Chorus reclaimed the “Superior” (Gold) rating and award last weekend at the Heritage Choral Festival in Vancouver, BC.

Junior Amethyst Kettrell was selected out of more than 600 vocal participants to receive the coveted Maestro Award for her musicality, expression and poise during her solo performance. She had become hesitant earlier in the week after coming down with a chest cold, but the chorus encouraged her to take the risk and she came out victorious.

“I have never been more proud of one of my Chorus members in the years that I’ve directed at Annie Wright," said Jeff Orr, Upper School Music Instructor and Chorus Director. "To see the remarkable growth of this young lady rewarded in such a wonderful manner at Saturday evening’s award ceremony was truly heartfelt for me and her friends.”

Congratulations to the Upper School Chorus and Amethyst!
