Inkwell Radio Gets Honorable Mention in NPR Contest

Inkwell Radio, the new podcasting arm of the Upper School journalism activity Inkwell, earned an honorable mention in NPR's 2020 Student Podcast Challenge for "International Students & the COVID-19 Pandemic." In this podcast, editor-in-chief Abby Givens and print edition editor YoungSeo Jo interviewed students who traveled home to four different countries last March about their experiences during the early days of quarantining.

National Public Radio sponsored the contest for students in Grades 5-12. Podcasts were required to be 3-12 minutes long. NPR received entries from nearly every state. Out of 2,200 entries, NPR chose two winners and 215 honorable mentions.

Inkwell began Inkwell Radio last January, during an intensive podcasting workshop with Channel 253 co-founder Doug Mackey, funded by a grant from the Annie Wright Schools Parents' Association. Listen to Inkwell Radio on Spotify here.
