Middle & Upper School Orchestras Earn Top Rating

On April 24 Annie Wright Upper and Middle School Orchestras participated in the Commencement Bay Music Educators Association String Orchestra Festival at Stadium High School. The ensembles delivered exciting performances on the Stadium Theater Stage and were well received by both audience and adjudicators. Upper School Orchestra was the first group of the day to perform at 8:40 am, and the Middle School followed later at 1:20 pm. Each group also took informative and constructive workshop sessions with one of the judges following their performance.

 

Both groups received a “Superior” rating, the top mark available. Dr. Anna Jensen from Pacific Lutheran University commented directly how impressed she was with this year’s groups, having seen Annie Wright orchestras many times across the last ten years. She congratulated the students on their musicality, preparation and convincing delivery in performance. The groups will share these pieces with the AWS community at the All Schools Orchestra Concert on May 15.
