BEYOND THE CLASSROOM: KINDERGARTEN - GRADE 5

OUR PROGRAMS

PROGRAMS INCLUDE:

Athletics
In addition to several Phyisical Education classes per week, Annie Wright offers primary school students opportunities to participate in competitive sports teams run through local leagues. Examples include cross country, volleyball and soccer. Learn more.

Before School
The Day School provides many opportunities for students beyond the classroom and regular school hours. The doors open at 7:30 am for students to take private music lessons, socialize, or prepare for their school day which begins right at 8:00 am.

Chapel
Annie Wright chapel services are designed to encourage thoughtful reflection and increased awareness of the elements of spirituality in the cultures of our world. Each week begins with an all-school chapel service that includes announcements, a musical presentation and a brief message that usually relates to the life of the entire school. Primary School chapel is held on Wednesdays and focuses on the aspects of a young person’s life that affect the way they think and feel. Stories about relationships and values, as well as discussions of religious philosophies and traditions, broaden students’ perspective, understanding and acceptance.

Community Service
Through Annie Wright's community service program, students develop the passion to serve and learn that they all have the ability to impact a community. Our program focuses on service learning, with the objective of helping students develop from volunteers into service leaders. Every project is student-centered. Learn more.

Destination Imagination
This organization fosters creative problem solving through imagination and innovation. DI teams, which showcase their solutions at competitive tournaments, have fun, take risks and embrace challenges while incorporating science, technology, math, the arts and service learning. Several of our teams have gone to the global finals.

Extended Day Program
Offered daily for students in Preschool through Grade 8, ED runs in the morning and after school till 6:00 pm. Clubs such as String, Yarn & Ribbon, Kids in the Kitchen, and Duct Tape Wearables, are a few of the variety offered through out the year, while Chinese, swim, and robotics are some of our regulars. Learn more.

Music Lessons
Annie Wright offers private lessons for an additional fee to all interested students. Lessons are available in many instruments such as a variety of strings, piano, drums, guitar, and voice. Music recitals help students build confidence and showcase their developing musical and performing skills. Musicians of all levels are also encouraged to participate in Annie Wright's orchestra and chorus, both of which provide a number of performance opportunities throughout the year.

Student Council
Teaching responsibility, accountability and leadership skills is an important part of our Day School program. Students in Grades 3-5 serve as class representatives to the Day School Student Council.
From distance running to service leadership to filmmaking, primary school students have the time and space to pursue their passions in and out of school. Parker Briggs '21 is already an award-winning filmmaker.
