The International Baccalaureate's Middle Years Programme (MYP) provides a framework for curriculum, inquiry and assessment, and builds on the transdisciplinary themes explored in the Lower School's Primary Years Programme. In MYP, understanding the concepts behind the facts takes on greater importance. As a result, students develop approaches to learning skills that they rely on throughout their lives.
The curriculum includes language acquisition (a choice of Spanish or Chinese at Annie Wright), language & literature, individuals & societies, science, math, arts, physical & health education, and design. Both inquiry-based and transdisciplinary, it emphasizes the need to write, speak and listen effectively. MYP challenges students to think analytically and creatively and provides opportunities to solve problems and make decisions in real world contexts. Integrity and the recognition of the interrelationships between people and responsible citizenship are integral to the MYP.
