    Position Overview: duties & responsibilities
    The Middle School Math Teacher
    • teaches in alignment with the mission and philosophy of Annie Wright Schools and with the International Baccalaureate framework;
    • works closely with the Director of Middle School, All School Math Coordinator, Lower School & Middle School Math Specialist, and other faculty to teach Math in Grades 6, 7, & 8;
    • collaborates with other faculty, including the Director of Middle School, student Advisors, the Lower & Middle School Counselor, and other colleagues to develop programming;

    Qualifications
    The Middle School Math Teacher:

  • Dorm Parent

    Annie Wright is seeking a Dorm Parent to begin mid-August, 2020, exact date to be determined. This is a full time, residential position.

    Position Overview: duties & responsibilities
    The team of 8 residential faculty supports a boarding population of about 120 students from across the United States and around the world. The first responsibility of the residential staff is to ensure the health and well-being of the boarding community, and the second responsibility is to teach character development through community membership. Being a residential faculty member is a shared, group endeavor that requires all residential staff and their family members to embrace the unique dorm lifestyle and to conduct themselves in accordance with the standards of the program. Dorm parents are on call, even when not officially on duty, and are expected to be active, visible, and participatory members of the dorm community. Dorm parents must first and foremost desire to be engaged and enthusiastic mentors, teachers and supervisors for a dorm full of teenagers from all over the world. The Dorm Parent:
    • consistently demonstrates good judgment, makes all decisions with student wellness as the first priority, and is a role model of appropriate behavior and community engagement at all times;
    • resides on campus in apartments provided by the school (apartment sizes vary and are assigned according to individuals’ roles and family needs);
    • works closely and cooperatively with residential faculty, students, and other school staff; attends all staff meetings and participates in all trainings and orientations for faculty and staff at the beginning and end of the academic year; and fulfills all administrative tasks and other duties as assigned;
    • is on duty for designated shifts, including: Monday-Friday from afternoon to late night, one full-weekend shift per month, and additional school events and dorm activities beyond the normal duty hours;
    • supports, attends, and provides supervision for dorm meetings, group and formal dinners, activities, and other special events designed for resident students;
    • and develops, sponsors, and leads programming in character education, community building, academics, leadership, and recreational and cultural activities.
     
    Qualifications
    The Dorm Parent:
    • must be at least 21 years old, have a valid Washington State driver’s license, pass school bus driver training (comprehensive driving abstracts will be obtained to determine if applicants are  eligible to drive school vehicles), and hold current CPR/First Aid certification (training can be provided);
    • must pass the standard background checks required of all school employees and must sign and abide by the AWS Residential Occupancy contract (these apply to resident spouses as well);
    • holds a BA from an accredited college or similar advanced training in a relevant field;
    • has experience working with young people as a dorm parent, classroom teacher, camp counselor, youth group leader, or in a similar role;
    • demonstrates commitment to personal integrity, character development, and community membership as well as broad emotional intelligence and a deep reserve of patience;
    • has a track record of acting effectively and supervising students in a variety of potential emergency situations;
    • demonstrates willingness to develop, sponsor, and lead programming in character education and community building, academics, leadership, and recreational and cultural activities;
    • and is eligible to work in the United States.
     
    Salary & benefits
    Compensation includes competitive benefits and salary commensurate with experience. Residential staff also enjoy extensive additional benefits including a rent-free campus apartment with all utilities, board when school is in session, health insurance, internet access, personal computer, and use of school facilities. Dorm Parents may move into their residence as early as August 1, 2020.

    Qualifications
    The Preschool Classroom Assistant Teacher:
    • holds a high school diploma (bachelor’s degree is preferred);
    • has worked in early childhood education;
    • and is available to work year-round on school days and during school breaks from 7:00 am-3:30 pm or 7:30 am-4:00 pm.

    Position Overview: duties & responsibilities
    Extended Day at Annie Wright offers programming for students in Preschool through Grade 8 before and after the regular school day and during school vacations. Extended Day includes a variety of opportunities for students in a safe and nurturing environment. On school days, Extended Day runs from 2:45-6:00 pm, and on non-school days including school breaks and summer, Extended Day runs from 7:00 am-6:00 pm. Extended Day Staff responsibilities include:
    • supervising students, tracking students’ attendance, and providing support to ED leadership and Annie Wright faculty;
    • organizing and leading activities for students, including arts & crafts and games;
    • and supporting for Extended Day leadership and other Faculty and fulfill other duties as assigned, such as supervising a study hall.

    Qualifications
    Extended Day Staff:
    • have experience working with and managing groups of students;
    • demonstrate strong communication skills, a positive attitude, flexibility, and the ability to work independently;

    • Ability to read and understand SDS and directions regarding the use of housekeeper/janitorial products used by the Schools.

    The maintenance worker, reporting to the Maintenance and Security Director, will inspect different equipment and perform any basic repairs or preventative maintenance when required.
    Specifically, the maintenance worker will:
    • conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment
    • perform preventative maintenance
    • handle basic repairs and maintenance
    • oversee contractors when professional repairs are necessary
    • diagnose mechanical issues and correct them
    • repair machines, equipment, or structures as necessary
    Qualifications
    The maintenance worker:
    • Holds a high school diploma or general education degree (GED);
    • Has proven maintenance experience;
    • Is eligible to work in the United States;
    • Is skilled in the use of hand and power tools, has extensive experience with wall/drywall repair, is able to take apart equipment or devices to remove and replace defective parts, is able to use common tools such as hammers, saws, drills, and wrenches, and has experience performing routine maintenance;
    • Is able to lift and carry objects safely up to 50 pounds;
    • Demonstrates ability to assist other maintenance workers with event setups and furniture moves, strong organizational, management and follow up skills, eye for detail, and ability to interface well with varied constituencies;
    • Is able to maintain focus while working individually and has strong time management skills;
