  • Middle School ESL Teacher (part time)

    Annie Wright is seeking a Middle School ESL Teacher to begin on August 19, 2019. This is a part-time position.

    Position Overview: duties & responsibilities
    The Middle School ESL Teacher
    • teaches in alignment with the mission and philosophy of Annie Wright Schools and with the International Baccalaureate framework;
    • works closely with the Director of Middle School and other faculty to teach one section of ESL in Grade 6 and one section in Grade 8;
    • collaborates with other faculty, including the Director of Middle School, student Advisors, the Middle School Counselor, and other colleagues to develop programming;
    Qualifications
    The Middle School ESL Teacher:
    • holds a BA in Education, or a related field and experience as a teacher at the Middle School level;
    • is eligible to work in the United States;
    • and demonstrates enthusiasm for working with Middle School-aged students and for the subject, familiarity with trends in education, flexibility, and excellent communication and organizational skills.
    Salary & benefits
    Compensation includes a stipend per section. This is a part-time position and does not qualify for any benefits.

    The Upper School for Girls and Upper School for Boys Counselor:
    • builds, delivers, and refines the broader Upper Schools’ health and wellness curriculum
    • promotes equity and access to rigorous educational experiences through leadership, advocacy, and collaboration;
    • supports a positive learning environment for all members of the school community and addresses the needs of all students through culturally relevant prevention and intervention programs;
    • provides support to students as needed, and maintains appropriate communication and support for their families; when necessary, the Counselor refers families to outside counselors or psychologists for appropriate counseling or care;
    • assists students, families, faculty, and administrators in creating and implementing support plans for students;
    • provides parent education opportunities throughout the year and parent support as needed;
    • participates in grade-level teams to identify, strategize on, and support students’ needs, attends faculty meetings, and fulfills other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications
    The Upper School Counselor:
    • holds an MA in School Counseling or a related field, relevant licensure, and experience working as a high school counselor;
    • demonstrates the ability to build rapport with High School-aged students (Grades 9-12), a high level of emotional intelligence, and experience collaborating with colleagues to support students and develop relevant programming;
    • is eligible to work in the United States;
    • and demonstrates familiarity with current research and best practices in counseling, child development, social-emotional learning, and education.

    • and fulfills all faculty duties, including serving as a Core Coach (advisor), IB Extended Essay Advisor, or IB CAS Coach, and maintaining good communication with families about student progress.
    Qualifications
    The Math Teacher:
    • holds a BA in Math or a related field;
    • has experience teaching high school Math at multiple levels and is familiar with the International Baccalaureate framework;
    • demonstrates an ability to form authentic relationships with high school students, excellent communication and organizational skills, reliability, and proficiency in educational technologies;

    • provide instruction and fulfill duties during the short-term absence of faculty; aid students in their daily tasks, help ensure their understanding of subject matter and use materials provided by absent teachers to attain lesson goals;
    • manage classroom behavior in a positive way and reach out to other faculty members for support as needed and manage classroom procedures, including taking attendance and maintaining orderly classrooms and student work, in compliance with the school’s procedures, guidelines, and policies;
    • and maintain a professional attitude in all manner of conduct with students, faculty, and parents, including a commitment to confidentiality.
    Qualifications
    Substitute teachers…
    • hold a BA in education or a related field (teaching certification is a plus);
    • are detail-oriented and demonstrate the ability to follow written and oral instructions;
    • demonstrate effective and appropriate communication with students, faculty, and staff, and parents;
    • demonstrate the ability to cultivate relationships with students in a short period of time;
    • exhibit confidence and capability in providing instruction;
    • are willing and able to work while standing for most of the day, with few breaks to sit (especially for Lower School Substitute Teachers);
    • are available on short notice and on a regular basis, and respond promptly to requests for substituting;
    • and are available from 7:30 am-3:30 pm.
    Salary & benefits
    Compensation is:
    • Lead Teacher $150 per full day
    • Lead Teacher $80 per half day
    • Lead Teacher $20 per hour (less than half day)
    • Early Childhood Assistant Teacher $15.60 per hour

    Position Overview: duties & responsibilities
    Extended Day at Annie Wright offers programming for students in Preschool through Grade 8 before and after the regular school day and during school vacations. Extended Day includes a variety of opportunities for students in a safe and nurturing environment. On school days, Extended Day runs from 2:45-6:00 pm, and on non-school days including school breaks and summer, Extended Day runs from 7:00 am-6:00 pm. Extended Day Staff responsibilities include:
    • supervising students, tracking students’ attendance, and providing support to ED leadership and Annie Wright faculty;
    • organizing and leading activities for students, including arts & crafts and games;
    • and supporting for Extended Day leadership and other Faculty and fulfill other duties as assigned, such as supervising a study hall.

    Qualifications
    Extended Day Staff:
    • have experience working with and managing groups of students;
    • demonstrate strong communication skills, a positive attitude, flexibility, and the ability to work independently;
    • are consistently available during ED times, listed above (limited hours are available);
    • are eligible to work in the United States.

    Compensation includes an hourly wage of $12.35/hour.

    Position Overview: duties & responsibilities
    Summer@Annie Wright offers an inquiry based adventure. We aim to balance fun with learning so that campers can spend their summer exploring, making new friends, and gaining new skills. Summer@Annie Wright includes a variety of week-long camp experiences, including STEM, Robotics, Creative and Performing Arts, Sports, and more! Summer@Annie Wright staff roles include:

    Specialty Camp Instructors:
    • Role: Speciality Camp Instructors design and lead week-long experiences for campers.
    • Responsibilities: Specialty Camp Instructors are responsible for all aspects of their Specialty Camps, including planning curriculum, purchasing supplies, monitoring campers throughout the week, and supervising Junior Camp Counselors who may assist in the camp experience. Specialty Camps run daily either: 9:00 am-12:00 pm, 1:00-4:00 pm, or 9:00 am-4:00 pm.
    • Qualifications: Speciality Camp Instructors demonstrate expertise in the area of their speciality camp; have experience working with and managing groups of students; demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills, a positive attitude, flexibility, the ability to work independently; and are eligible to work in the United States.
    • Compensation: Specialty Camp Instructors receive 50% of enrollment fees for the specialty camp.
    Camp Counselors:
    • Role: Camp Counselors provide support and supervision for campers and lead a variety of activities.
    • Responsibilities: Camp Counselors supervise campers on the playground and in other settings, track campers’ attendance, provide support to camp leadership and Specialty Camp Instructors, and lead activities such as arts & crafts or games. Camp Counselors work between 7:00am-6:00pm, and Counselors are expected to commit to a minimum of 3 hours per day.
    • Qualifications: Camp Counselors must be 18 years old and demonstrate a positive attitude, flexibility, the ability to work independently, and eligibility to work in the United States.
    • Compensation: Compensation includes an hourly wage commensurate with experience.
    Junior Camp Counselors:
    • Role: Junior Camp Counselors assist Camp Counselors, Specialty Camp Instructors, and camp leadership in the support and supervision of campers.
    • Responsibilities: Junior Camp Counselors assist in supervising campers on the playground and in other settings, providing support to camp leadership and Specialty Camp Instructors, and leading activities such as arts & crafts or games. Junior Camp Counselors work between 7:00 am-6:00 pm, and Junior Camp Counselors are expected to commit to a minimum of 3 hours per day.
