Grade 9 Tennis Powerhouse Agye Mintah Wins State

Grade 9 student Agye Mintah won the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association 1A tennis tournament on Saturday, May 28, at the Yakima Tennis Club, to become the 2016 singles state champion.

She did not drop a single game in her first three matches. In the final match, against last year's state champion Sasha Cayward from Forest Ridge, she won the first set 7-5 and was up in the second set 1-0 before Sasha retired due to a leg injury.

Agye is one of the pioneering members of Annie Wright's signature tennis program, launching this fall.

Congratulations Agye! Go Gators!
