Lower Schools Students Celebrate Hour of Code in December

During the month of December in technology classes, Lower School students in Grades K-5 will participate in various activities from Hour of Code. While coding is not new to students at Annie Wright, there is excitement around participating in this global movement reaching tens of millions of students in 180+ countries.

Coding (or Computer Programing) is a new kind of literacy. Coding can help you organize your thoughts and express your ideas. The beginning activities of coding help students develop design and problem solving skills as well. Each grade level will be doing activities that are developmentally appropriate. In addition, students with prior coding experience will be given the option of doing alternate activities that help challenge their skills. Our goal is that all lower school kids experience coding, whether it’s for the first time, or for activities that help them continue to develop their skills.
