Annie Wright to Host Maker Workshop for Area Teachers

Annie Wright Schools are hosting a professional development course for educators, "Create a Maker Movement in Your School," on August 13 and 14 in our maker lab in the Library & Learning Commons. The course is part of the Puget Sound Educational Service District technology curriculum.

This two-day class will help K-12 teachers and librarians explore the Maker Movement and create a plan to get started with Maker activities and Makerspaces schools. The four instructors, including our own educational technology director Angela Heath, will explore models of successful implementation, how to integrate Maker activities with learning targets, what instructional supports will help students and teachers succeed, and which Maker activities, tools, and resources to start with. Class time will be a mixture of trying out Maker activities and engaging in research, and each participant or team will leave with an individualized Makerspace Implementation Plan for their school.
