Annie Wright Receives Full PYP Authorization

After a rigorous four-year process, Annie Wright received full authorization as an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) school. The PYP, a flexible curriculum for students aged 3 to 12, focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and the outside world.

The IB Organization’s report commended Annie Wright in every practice, including selecting teachers who embrace inquiry-based learning, providing exemplary leadership in supporting teachers in their implementation of the program, maintaining inviting learning environments and communicating key components to the community.

“Our Lower School team has worked hard over four years to implement this fantastic program,” said Head of Schools Christian Sullivan. “Their deep knowledge and appreciation of the PYP have inspired children to love learning.”

Originally developed for children of diplomats, IB programs, currently offered to more than one million students in nearly 150 countries, encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners. These programs also provide a framework to assess performance according to world standards. The IB Diploma Programme is already well established in Annie Wright’s Upper School, and the Middle Years Programme is set to follow in the Middle School.
