Grade 3 Students Play Music with the Seattle Symphony

Grade 3 students started studying the music for the Link Up Seattle Symphony: The Orchestra Rocks Concert in January. Students learned how to sing the songs, compose their own music, appreciate music through listening and play the recorder. The curriculum was produced by and sent to us from Carnegie Hall. They joined students from Grades 3-5 from many other schools at Benaroya Hall for the culminating concert.

While they sat in the audience watching the performance students were able to participate through singing and playing the recorder. It was amazing to hear about 2000 students singing and playing the recorder with the Seattle Symphony - the concert hall was packed! The concert was highly interactive and lots of fun! There were even surprise guests to join for certain songs - the UW Chorale sang “O Fortuna” with us and the Chef Sealth High School drumlines played drums while we performed the song “Drumlines.”
