Annie Wright Orchestras Get Top Rating at Tacoma Festival

Both the Middle School and Upper School orchestras received "Superior" ratings at the Commencement Bay Music Educators Association orchestra festival held at Mt Tahoma High School on April 16.

It was a nerve-inducing setting to go on a strange stage in front of an unknown audience and perform knowing that adjudicators were monitoring every tone and bow stroke. The Middle School, with it's spunky, energetic and spirited style, made a great impression, and the Upper School with a skilled and focused performance achieved some of their best musical moments of the year.

Both groups were workshopped after their performance and showed tremendous respect and attention to the adjudicator, being fully engaged and responsive to all suggestions. All our AWS students also deported themselves with outstanding respect when watching other groups perform before it was their turn. Not only were they quiet and attentive, but also there was a noticeable lack of handheld electronics amongst them which were sadly so prominent among other groups.

Congratulations Annie Wright musicians!
