Annie Wright Features as Shining Example of Cybersecurity

Palo Alto Networks, a cybersecurity firm that protects thousands of business, non-profit, government and service provider networks from cyber threats, recently showcased Annie Wright's firewall as a shining example of complex cybersecurity.

In a case study which became their most viewed on the web in November, Palo Alto compared Annie Wright to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from J K Rowling's iconic Harry Potter series. Ensuring that all of the school’s computers, tablets, smartphones and other portals are protected, however, takes much more than the wave of a magic wand.

The Palo Alto Networks Firewall has facilitated or solved bandwidth, scheduling, network latency, access and IT management issues for Annie Wright. It also makes the process for Bob Williamson, Annie Wright’s Network Administrator, to adjust the rules and the filters much easier.

For a school like ours, firewall protection is essential. “Typically, at any time, there are between 800 and 1,200 devices on our network, 50-70 Mbps of Internet usage, and three-fourths of a terabyte every 24 hours on wireless,” said Mr. Williiamson.

The new next-generation firewall delivers application, user, and content visibility and control, as well as protection against network-based cyberthreats. It also cut the cost of firewall and URL filtering devices in half.
